At our Catford Nursery we pride ourselves on individuality. We are unique from our other locations and are a welcoming family.

Here, we encourage learning and play by allowing our little ones to free-flow between indoors and out, as well as self-selecting toys and activities.

Our nursery specialises in the Montessori method!

The Montessori method is all about little ones learning through self-directed and self-motivated play. This means our practitioners cater every activity towards the children's natural interests rather than following formal methods of teaching.

This approach to learning places emphasis on hands-on learning and real-life skills specifically focusing on cognitive, language, social-emotional, and physical development.

A bit of background...

The Montessori approach to education is rooted in the pioneering work of Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and educator.

Born in 1870, Maria Montessori shattered gender norms by becoming one of the first women in Italy to earn a medical degree. Later her passion for child development led her to pivot from a medical career and focus on educational philosophy.

In 1907, Maria Montessori opened a childcare center in Rome. This marked the beginning of the Montessori method, an amazing educational approach centred on fostering a child's natural curiosity, independence, and love for learning.

we offer...

We are able to offer care 51 weeks of the year for children aged 1 - 5.

healthy early years london

Mindful Nurseries is proud to be taking part in Healthy Early Years London (HEYL). It is an awards scheme funded by the Mayor of London which supports and recognises achievements in child health, wellbeing and development in early years settings.

HEYL will help to reduce health inequalities by supporting a healthy start to life across themes that include healthy eating, oral and physical health and early cognitive development.
